The Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda, has begun examining work done on health structures earmarked for the 2019 African Cup of Nations(AFCON) in some major towns of the country.
This is coming at a time the CAF delegation is rounding its visit to Cameroon, to evaluate the work done as Cameroon prepares to host the 2019 AFCON games. Other stakeholders directly involved in the 2019 AFCON preparation are also undertaking frequent visits to the host towns to evaluate the level of work done so far.
From Bertoua in the East Region, the Minister equally visited some health structures in Bafoussam in the West Region to evaluate their level of preparedness.
As part of the implementation of the three-years health emergency plan, Minister Andre Mama Fouda visited the site of the Gyneco-Obstetrics and Pediatrics Health Center, Bafoussam on August 8, 2018.
André Mama Fouda expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work done, but reiterated that much effort must be put in place for the hospital training center to be ready before the start of 2019 soccer jamboree.
It is worth mentioning that the Bafoussam Reference Hospital is classified as a 2nd category hospital, which is part of the component of the three-year health emergency plan initiated by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.
The hospital has a capacity of 120 beds, built on a surface five hectares of land. It is constituted in terms of clinical units, medicine, general surgery, intensive care and intensive care, ophthalmology, cardiology, infectious isolation, reception and emergency, obstetrics, neonatology, operating theater, medical imaging and laboratory.
