Joseph Masso, a driver plying the Kumba-Mundemba road axis in Cameroon’s South West Region has committed suicide after he survived a car crash.
Masso’s body was discovered on his farm plot in in Kake I a village on the outskirts of Kumba.
Inhabitants of Kake said they bumped into the mortal remains of the popular driver hanging from a tree in their vicinity.
Eyewitnesses told The National times that, on Friday August 31, Maso survived a deadly road accident along the Ekondo Titi stretch.
He arrived Kumba in the evening hours of the same day and threw a party celebrating his survival following the road crash.
His colleagues at the Mile One Motor Park are said to have drank to stupor as Maso threw a party for all to drink to their fill.
When news broke of his demise, the colleagues could not comprehend what transpired after they separated. The drivers expressed concern over the fact that, their colleague was spotted hanging from a tree.
While local traditional authorities visited the scene of the incident, security findings have been opened to uncover what might have killed the driver. It is not clear if the family of the deceased will engage medics to establish through scientific means if he committed suicide or was killed and hung on the tree.
The deceased is a popular driver along the Kumba-Mundemba Road. He had been into the business of transporting goods for over a decade. An official of the Mbonge Road Axis Drivers’ Union, MIRADU, told The National Times that they union is yet to understand what might have happened to the driver.
The official said, he surfaced at the park in the evening of the incident celebrating that, God spared his life from a deadly road crash. Our source said Maso did not show any sign of being under stress or sickness.
