Updates: Movement resumes in Buea, BIR officers on house to house search

Circulation of buses, taxis and movement of persons into and from Buea has now resumed after close to eight hours of gun battles between the Pro-independence fighters and the Cameroon military.

Vehicles burnt to ashes at Mile 16

Element of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) are now conducting a house to house search in Mile 16, Mile 15, Mile 14 and Muea after today deadly gun confrontation.

Recent update indicates that the attack which took place some metres from the Mile 16 security control post resulted to the following casualties:

  • A BIR soldier killed in Mile 16
  • Police Officer shot in Mile 16
  • 3 gunmen believe to be pro-independence fighters killed
  • 4 vehicles set ablaze
  • -Several sheds and stores at Mile 16 market reduced to ashes.
