Pierre Kunde Malong: The Making Of A Soccer Wizkid

23- year-old born Cameroonian midfielder, Pierre Kunde Malong, has taken the German Bundesliga by storm with his flying start to life in the German top flight with Mainz 05.

The former Best Star Academy graduate joined the German side on Tuesday, July 6, 2018 on a 4-year-deal after ending his professional stint in Spain where he featured for clubs like Alcobendas, Athletico Madrid Academy and most recently Granada where he scored five goals in 37 league appearances while on loan from Athletico Madrid.

Pierre Kunde Malong was named among the 23-man squad of Clarenec Seedorf, head coach of the Indomitable Lions to take on Malawi in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers. His performance with the Lions at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium was scintillating and caught the attention of many supporters of the Lions.

Who is Pierre Kunde Malong

Pierre Kunde Malong was born on July 26, 1995 in Limbe South West Region of Cameroon.

Malong started his senior career in Spain with Alcobendas CF; he made his senior debut for the club on November 11, 2012 by starring in a 2–0 Regional derby win against EF Periso.

In 2013, Kunde moved to Atlético Madrid, returning to youth football. The following year, he was promoted to the reserves in Segunda División B, immediately becoming a regular starter but suffering relegation in his first season.

On July 21, 2016, Kunde was loaned to Extremadura UD for one year, still in the third division. He scored a career-best 11 goals during the campaign, with braces against San Fernando CD (3–1 away win), Linares Deportivo (3–1 away win) and Atlético Mancha Real (2–1 away win).

On July 25, 2017, Kunde joined Granada CF, freshly relegated to Segunda División, on a one-year loan deal. He made his professional debut on August 20, coming on a late substitute for Javier Espinosa in a 0–0 home draw against Albacete Balompié.

Kunde scored his first professional goal on October 8, 2017, netting the last in a 2–0 home defeat of CD Lugo. The following 22 April, he scored a brace in a 3–3 home draw against Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa.

On July 6, 2018, Kunde was transferred to Bundesliga side Mainz 05 and signed 4-year contract. Kunde Malong’s deal at Mainz (Former home of Cameroon international, Eric Choupou Moting) runs tills 2022 with details on his contract not disclosed by his entourage nor Mainz officials.
