Fright grips court as another School Principal is kidnapped

Kumba(National Times)-Fright is reported to have ripped through the premises of the Meme High Court in Kumba, South West Region of Cameroon, early Thursday, November 8,2018, few minutes after gunmen abducted the Principal of a private college not too far from the legal precinct.

Adolf Achare, Principal of Global Bilingual College (GLOBICOL) was abducted from the school campus and whisked-off from around 11:00AM Thursday.

The incident triggered an uneasy atmosphere within the Ngamlikum vicinity, where the school and court are located.

A source told The National Times that parents rushed to a nearby primary school HP Sone Kumba to ensure the security of their children in the hours following the reported abduction of Achare.

Within the same day, unknown gunmen are reported to have visited the campus of the Presbyterian High School (PHS) Kumba creating fear.

Reports hold that Achare was abducted on campus as he went about his duties of ensuring that classes resume. Lectures are said to have resumed timidly on the campus of the institution.

Thursday’s development came on the heels of another incident where the former Principal of a private school in Kumba , Terence Wandji was abducted early Wednesday alongside the wife of another teacher.

They regained their freedom in the afternoon hours of the same day. Wandji is reported to have visited a Catholic health facility in Kumba for medical examination. He occupies the position of Discipline Master at the Bilingual Academy of Arts and Science Kumba (BAASK). He was the Principal of the same school until the Catholic Diocese of Kumba bought it over from private individuals.

The renewed campaign against school resumption is believed to be the act of separatists’ agents seeking to ensure that schools across Cameroon’s twitchy English-speaking Regions remain closed. It has been so since 2016.

Classes had resumed timidly across most schools in Kumba. Early this week, series of kidnaps and attacks surfaced threatening the renewed momentum for schools to resume.
