Breaking: Mimi Mefo released from Douala New Bell Prison

Mimi Mefo Takambou, Journalist and Editor-in-Chief of the English Desk at Equinoxe Radio and Television Douala has been released from the Douala New Bell Prison today Saturday November 10, 2018 after spending three nights in detention.

The National Times learnt that the Editor-in-Chief of English Desk at Equinoxe Television was instructed to pack her belongings and leave.

“I don’t know, they just called me and told me to pack my things and leave” she revealed.

Mimi Mefo who was detained at the Douala New Bell Prison on Wednesday November 7, 2018 at night based on instruction from the Military State Prosecutor.

It is not clear whether the charges were dropped before her release but several national and international groups had mounted pressure on the government for her release.
