A group of American soldiers in the province of Al-Hasakah have left Syria, according to Russian news site Sevodnia citing local sources.
According to the news site, more than 50 American soldiers handed their weapons to a military deport before leaving Syria for the U.S..
The soldiers belong to a U.S. contingent that was backing Syrian Kurds in Hasak in Syria.
The withdrawal comes following Trump’s unexpected announcement to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria.
More than 2,000 U.S. Troops are currently stationed in Syria.
U.S. allies and members have congress have critique Trump move, arguing it makes the U.S. look unreliable to its allies. Trump has insisted that the move is part of his campaign promise, and the U.S. has achieved its purpose in Syria, defeating ISIS.
