Buea(National Times)-Some human casualties have been reported in Yoke, a small town in the Muyuka Sub-division, South West Region of Cameroon following Thursday, January 10, 2019, confrontation between Ambazonia fighters and the military.
The National Times gathered that two soldiers, two Ambazonia fighters and a civilian were killed in the stand-off. The civilian casualty was caught by a stray bullet in the gun battle.
Sources say early Thursday morning two coffins were placed at Mbo quarter and at Grass field Junctions located in Yoke by the Ambazonia fighters.
The locals recounted that they woke up to see the coffins at the junction. “The Ambazonia fighters placed the coffins to send a message to soldiers that crossing the line means death,” one of the local stated.
Soldiers approached the two coffins and shot at them severally before spraying fire on the woods. This provoked open confrontation between soldiers and Ambazonia fighters.
Inhabitants of Yoke were forced to flee into bushes for safety.
