Two separate accidents leave a soldier death and dozens others seriously injured

Douala (National Times) – Dozens of soldiers in Cameroon have been involved in two separate accidents leaving one soldier death and dozens of others seriously injured.

On Friday an accident in Missole II village, along the Douala Yaounde highway, left 8 soldiers seriously injured on board a Amigo Travel agency bus. A military source told National Times most of the soldiers who were in the the 32-seater bus are were taken to the hospital. “The driver is in a critical condition” he said.

The government will investigate the cause of the accident.

On Saturday, a military vehicle carrying dozens of soldiers was involved in another accident in Ndiki along the Yaounde-Baffousam highway, leaving one person death and dozens of others in critical condition.

“The army vehicle was severely damaged. Some of the victims were in a critical condition” an eye witness told Chinese news agency Xinhua.

The army has also ordered formal inquiry into the Ndiki.
