Wum(National Times)-Condemnation, grief and outrage swept across Wum, the Divisional capital of Menchum Division of Cameroon’s North West Region, following the assassination of a prominent cattle owner and investor Alhadji Bala Dauda, Thursday, January 17.
Gunmen suspected to be separatist agents are reported to have killed the business man at Wada Road in Wum around 3:00pm that fateful day.
He was reportedly headed for his farm alongside one other relative when gunmen struck. The relative is said to have escaped the scene of the attack to recount what happened.
One of his neighbours in Wum averred that “ these boys have confiscated his cows…slaughtering them for their dinner. He went to his ranch on Thursday to assess the damage. Unfortunately, he was shot and killed by those boys,” the neighbour told The National Times. The Alhadji is considered to be one of the highest investors in Menchum Division.
