Two Security Officers Feared Killed Across Meme 48 Hours After Peace Protest

Kumba (National Times)-At least two security officers are feared killed across different locations in Meme Division, South West Region of Cameroon early Monday February 18 two days after a handful of women and youths descended to the streets wielding placards in protests against same.

The two cases of security forces feared killed are reported to have happened in Mbonge and Kumba. In Kumba, reports which security officials are yet to confirm talk of the assassination of a young police constable.

Constable Moumi Saiid  was said to be serving at the Special Branch Police office in Kumba. Unknown gunmen are feared to have killed him early Monday. Acquaintances told The National Times that, the young security personnel has spent less than 6 months in Kumba .

Aside that, preliminary reports from Mbonge Sub Division, early Monday, February 18 which officials are yet to confirm also talk of the killing of a Gendarmarie captain under unclear circumstances.

In the meantime, authorities across the Division who have waged a relentless war against the activities of gunmen and suspected separatists’ fighters are expected to ascertain or debunk news of the killings.
