Songwe said she and president Biya discussed issues of unlocking the potentials of the country to attain such goals. She cited discussions on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the need to strengthen the digital economy as being key to turning the tides.
According to the ECA official, Cameroon’s position in the central African sub Region puts her at an advantage to benefit from the bigger market that the free trade area will bring. She opined that a peaceful central African sub Region is key for security in the gulf of Guinea.

In the basic education sector, the minister said the funding will enable government recruit 12.000 contract teachers. The minister revealed that, text books will also be given to pupils. A performance based funding approach is equally envisaged in this regard.
Refugee-laden communities and others hosting internally displaced persons are expected to benefit projects that will roll back poverty. The livelihood of 42.000 new refugees households is expected to improve. A further 85.000 will also benefit.
