Kokombo( National Times)-The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, has handed over gifts to some ex-leprosy patients.
He donated the gifts while launching activities ahead of May 20 celebration in Kokombo, a locality in the Nyong and Mfoumou Division of the Centre Region.
After handing over the gifts comprising of rice, maize, bathing soap and blankets among others, Mounouna Foutsou urged the recipients to actively participate in activities marking this year’s National Day celebration which is in its 47th edition.
This year’s Nation Day celebration is placed on the theme “Unity in diversity, an asset of the Cameroonian people in their determined move towards emergence.”
According to the Youth Affairs Minister, this year’s them is call for everyone to bear in mind that diversity is very important for the unity of Cameroon
Speaking to the people who had braved the rains to attend Friday’s event, the Minister said this year’s march-past will be special as some youths recently trained in Koutaba will participate alongside some young fire fighters who will march to sensitise their fathers on values of sacrifice and general interest.
As preparations heighten in other parts of the country, the celebration of the 47th edition of the National Day remains uncertain in the two English-speaking Northwest and Southwest Regions because of the war in the two Regions.
