Hospital Summons Staffs As Outcry Heightens Over Demise Of Stabbed Student

Douala (National Times)-The Management of the Deido District Hospital in Douala, Littoral Region of Cameroon has meet with  senior staff  to tighten respect of professional ethics. It comes amid public demand for sanctions on those who filmed the victim of a knife attack in the theatre room following the Friday March 29 incident on Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Deido.

The victim Ousman Breliot Tsanou , 17 died  in the hospital after  failed attempts to reanimate him. Yet videos of what transpired in the inner chambers of the medics battling with the case spread on social media triggering public condemnation.

Espoir SAME SAME, the General Supervisor issued a service note Saturday March 30th announcing the Monday April 1st meeting. The meeting was staged beginning the hour of 10AM.

SAME outlined that, the context of the meeting was to  focus on the need to respect the ethics and deontology of the medical practice. The meeting also focused on the need to respect secrecy in the discharge of duties.

Heads of the different departments of the hospital were the participants at this Monday’s meeting.  The departmental heads are expected to implement strict controls within their competent services to prevent any future embarrassment.

Today’s meeting took place amid a declaration from public health minister Manaounda Malachie demanding for investigations into the conduct of some staff of the hospital who handled the case of the stabbed student.

Ousmane died after a failed attempt to resuscitate him. Yet few minutes after the incident, videos of the victim flooded the social media. Such were said to have been filmed by nurses on duty.
