State Vehicles To Transport Participants For 20th May Celebrations Amid Ghost Town

Kumba (National Times)-The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Meme Division, South West Region of Cameroon Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong says, state cars will be put at the disposal of the population for a massive participation  at the national day celebrations  on Monday May 20th.

Ntou’ou Ndong made the announcement Saturday  May 18th Shortly after taking part in a peace and unity walk across Kumba in readiness for the national day celebrations.

The prefect stated that, irrespective of the traditional separatists-imposed ghost town operations of every Monday, the state has taken the necessary measures to ensure that, everything  works out well.

According to the prefect, vehicles will move across neighbourhoods transporting participants to the field. He surmised that, security dispositions have been taken to frustrate any separatists’ incursions.

The administrator declared that, despite the repeated separatists incursions across his administrative unit, Meme will join the rest of the nation to celebrate the may 20th celebrations.

Asked on the participation of traditional rulers, the Divisional  boss argued that, Meme Division has no problem with Chiefs. He indicated that traditional rulers across his administrative unit have always mobilised for national events. Ntou’ou Ndong said he expects same come Monday.

However, before now, a release from the same office had indicated that service heads who fail to participate in the event will be subjected to sanctions.

The Divisional Officer (DO) for Kumba III Veckline Epulewane had weeks back issued a release urging all traditional rulers in her administrative unit to regain their palaces and participate in the national day celebrations. That release equally mooted sanctions on those who fail to show up.
