Bamenda (National Times)-Three football clubs from the North West Regions of Cameroon viz; Yong Sports academy (YOSA), PWD both in the Division I league and Bang Bullet in Division II suffered painful defeats in matches played over the weekend of April 13th and 14th.
YOSA crashed against Feutcheu FC in Bafoussam by 1-2. PWD of Bamenda suffered a 0-1 defeat as it clashed with Avion FC. These matches counted for day 15th of the League 1 championship.
The PWD-Avion encounter at the Limbe Centenary Stadium was crucial for the Bamenda club but things turned out different. A victory for PWD would have seen the Bamenda club out of the relegation zone in Group A. It occupies the 8th spot with 15 points out of 9 teams on the log.
New Stars of Douala’s 4 zero loss to Coton Sport of Garoua would have enabled PWD to escape the red zone if it won the Sunday game. Rather the team failed to exploit the opportunity to advance on the classification table.
As it stands, avoiding relegation requires intense work from coach Augustine Choupo and his boys. Two of PWD’s last three opponents Coton Sport and Dragon FC have been on top form since the start of the championship.
Coton Sport of Garoua; top in Group A with 22 points is PWD’s next adversary at home. Their next game will be against TCK in Bamenda. The club’s last game will be in Yaounde for a clash against Dragon FC.
YOSA on its part occupies the 4th position in group B with 16 points, after losing on Sunday to group leaders Feutcheu of Djiko on 24 points.
In the second division league, Bang Bullet of Nkambe fell to AS Matelots on Saturday during the 13th playing day. The Nkambe side, just like PWD of Bamenda, are in the relegation zone on the 5th spot with 14 points.
