South West gets ready ahead of 2018 Edition of FESTAC in Bertoua

Preparations intensify in the South West Region ahead of the 9th edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC), that begins on July 16, 2018 in Bertoua as foundation stone for the festival monument has been laid in Bertoua by the Minister of Arts and Culture, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.

According to the Minister of Arts and Culture, the building of the monument would be the hymn of the cultural diversity of Cameroon.

In an interview with the Regional delegate of Arts and Culture for South West, Mme. Grace Ngoh Ewang, she revealed that the delegation to represent the Region comprises of representatives from the six Divisions of the South West Region.

Intense preparation in Buea

“We are prepared to showcase the outstanding culture of the people of South West. We have prepared traditional dances, music’s and traditions medicines to showcase during the cultural festival”, she hinted The National times.

Among other activities to be showcased at the cultural festival in Bertoua are traditional dishes from the various tribes of the South West Region.

Mme Grace Ngoh insisted that only those who know how to prepare all the dishes from the various tribes in the region would be selected.

“The selection of those who are going to represent us in the cooking of traditional dishes, are those who are capable of cooking the dishes not only from their area, but dishes that cut across”, Mme. Grace Ngoh said.

While the Regional Delegation of South West Region feels optimistic to win many prices, artists like Alone Elone, Princess Lyn and other participants from the region are determine to top the first position when the festival closes its doors on July 22, 2018
