The mayor of Buea, South West Region of Cameroon, Patrick Ekema Esunge has instituted a municipal ban on the circulation of commercial motorcycles as government beat drums for effective school resumption amid separatists threats for Monday September 3.
Ekema announced the ban Friday August 31st on the sidelines of an event to drum home a back to school message across much of the troubled Anglophone Cameroon.
According to the mayor, “ the ban is to ensure the security of children for effective school resumption and to maintain a high level of tranquility for the population of Buea who have been terrorized and brutalized by Ambazonian terrorists… motorcycles are their only means of transportation”. Ekema stated.
This is about the second of such municipal pronouncements against the circulation of bikes in Buea from the same mayor.
