The United States Congress has called on the Government of Cameroon to immediately release Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and 46 others who were arrested in Nigeria and extradited to Cameroon.
The resolutions were taken during the 115th Congress session, which held on September 2, 2018.
Going by the resolution arrived at by the House of Representatives, the Congress noted with dismay the killings of innocent civilians and accused the pro-independence fighters of blocking school resumption.
The Congress equally urged the Cameroon Government to release all detainees arrested as a result of the on-going crisis.
The US Congress frowned at the human rights violation perpetuated by the Cameroon military and employed them to respect international laws and to use force where necessary.
According to the release, the Congress urged the Government of Cameroon to initiate a credible, goal and full faith effort to work with religious and community leaders in the Anglophone Regions to address the grievances and seek nonviolent solutions.
