Opposition Presidential candidates cry foul as election enters decisive stage

Many opposition party candidates are already expressing their misgivings as voting goes on to select the next President of Cameroon.

Just after casting his votes this morning in Douala, Joshua Osih said it was regrettable that the Prime Minister, Philemon Yang was allowed to vote in Bamenda even though he is registered in Oku.

It was a similar situation with Cabral Libii who said two of his aides in the North were kidnapped last night by unknown men who had earlier on warned them to stop militating for the UNIVERS party.

Cabral Libii also said his representatives in some diplomatic missions abroad were barred from representing the UNIVERS party.

While representatives of Maurice Kamto’s CRM told us that their party cards mysteriously got finished in some polling stations and they had to create a scene. Over in the Douala IV neighbourhood, voting was interrupted for about two hours when opposition parties discovered that the papers of SDF candidates got finished even though it was just 10:00 am. It was until ELECAM ferried in more papers that representatives of the opposition parties allowed the voting exercise to continue. While in Mbanjock in the Centre Region, unconfirmed reports say voters were not given ballot papers of all opposition candidates.
