Breaking News: Biya appoints Simo Njonou SONARA GM, Replaces Ebong Ngolle

Limbe(National Times)-Jean-Paul Simo Njonou has been appointed as the new General Manager of the National Oil Refinery Corporation popularly known by its French acronym as SONARA, while Beltha Ndoh Bakata replaces ailing John Ebong Ngolle as Board Chairperson of the same institution.

The changes were made this morning following an extra-ordinary Board meeting of SONARA in the seaside resort town of Limbe, South West Region with Simo Njonou attending as the representative of the Presidency of the Republic.

Also appointed was Bayiha Bernard as Deputy GM of SONARA.

The move comes just 10 days after the former GM, Ibrahim Talba Malla was appointed Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Public Contracts.

Meanwhile, Beltha Ndoh who doubles as Special Adviser to the Prime Minister and Head of the Commission in charge of implementing priority projects in the Bakassi Peninsular would be replacing John Ebong Ngolle, who has been sicked for about five years now. Last year it got worst until he was rushed to famous Nigerian Prophet, T.B Joshua.

Until his appointment, Njonou cumulated several top positions among which were Chargé de missions at the Presidency, Member of the Board of SONARA and of the Electricity Development Corporation as well as Board Chairman of the newly created Kribi Deep Seaport.

Despite the much talk-about time for Anglophones to head the institution, it has still pleased Paul Biya to appoint another Francophone to be at the summit of SONARA which, though found in the Anglophone heartland of Limbe has never been managed by any of its sons or daughters.
