Government Honours Murdered Police Officers, Say Sacrifices Not In Vain

Yaounde (National Times)-Cameroon’s Delegate General for National Security Martin Mbarga Nguele has paid honour to four elements of the country’s police force killed on Saturday June 15 in Otu-Village, Manyu Division, South West Region on the border with Nigeria.

Speaking at the Advanced Police College in Yaounde Friday June 28,the police boss said the sacrifices of the fallen offices are not in vain. Mbarga saluted the bravery of the officers. He described their  act as a heroic sacrifice. The observations surfaced as state honours  were given to the concerned in the presence of relatives and friends.

The Secretary of state in the Ministry of Defense in Charge of the National Gendarmarie  Yves Landry Etoga was among the high profile state officials at the ceremony.

Four elements; Tenga Gabriel, Kome Lewis, Djekai  Guy and Dibue Essoh died in that attack. Five others viz;  Mballa Zambo, Moneye Ebanga, Monthe Eric, Owono Bokali and Ondja’a Jean sustained injuries.

Government had long condemned the attack. Communication Minister in a statement same day the attack happened informed the public that separatists used Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) to stage the attack.

In the meantime, the wounded  are responding to treatment in health facilities across Yaounde and Douala. The police boss had long visited the wounded police officers in the hospital and families of those who died in the attack.
