FECAFOOT Denies Owing Under 17 Lions Bonuses

Yaounde (National Times)-The communications unit of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has rejected the information it claims is circulating about the non-payment of the bonuses of the Under 17 lions. The team recently clinched gold at the 2019 AFCON in Tanzania.

According to the Team Press officer, every member of the team including both the staff and players were handed all of their bonuses. The team returned to Cameroon on April 29th.

“No legitimate misunderstanding exists within the National Under 17 football team” the authorities pointed out. They further added that, the young players took part in the 20th May march-past. The same authorities cited the presence of the team at the Unity Banquet president Biya offered thousands of quest on May 20th as a sign of stability in the team.

Another aspect highlighted, was the evacuation of the cadet lions from their hotel in Yaounde on Tuesday May 21. This comes after several reports emerged  that, the players were forcefully expulsed from where they were being lodged.

Coach Thomas Libiih and his team emerged winners of the 2019 under 17 AFCON in Tanzania, following a 5-3 post-match penalty victory against Guinea at the National Stadium of Dar es Salaam on Sunday April 28th 2019.

The success in Tanzania handed Cameroon their second trophy of the competition, putting them at the same level as Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia and Mali (2017 winner.
