Women’s World Cup 2019: Cameroon’s Coach Djeumfa Unveils Squad

Yaounde (National Times)-The head coach of the Cameroon’s women national football team, Alain Djeumfa has published a list of 23 players to take part in the 2019 FIFA women’s world cup. He released the list on Friday, May 24, after their 4-0 victory over Spanish topflight side Levante in a friendly played on Thursday.

Alain Djeumfa submitted the list to the World Football governing body (FIFA), after 17 days of intensive training in Cameroon and France. It comes after the team’s  fifth and last acclimatisation camp. The training program is scheduled to end on June 6.

On the list of 23, there are three goalkeepers; Ngo Ndom Annette Flore, Omgmaham Marthe and Mambingo Isabelle Mireille. For the defenders there are; Ejangue Siliki Augustine, Meffomettou Tcheno Claudine, Leuko Chiboso Yvonne, Sonkeng Amarielle, Mani Christine, Awono Marie Aurielle and Estelle Johnson.

The midfield comprises of; Feudjo Raissa, Meyong Menene Charlene, Ngo Mbeleck, Abena Therese, Ngock Yango Jeannette and Ngo Ndoumbouk.  Attackers include; Aboudi Onguene, Akaba Henriette, Enganamouit Gael, Ngono Mani, Takounda Engolo, Nchout Njoya and Abam Michaela.

The assistant coach of the Lionesses, Bernadette Annong said they have made sure they don’t focus on the weaknesses of their opponents. “We don’t know much about the weaknesses and strengths of our opponents. We only know it by what we read or by the statistics that are given. If you only keep on thinking of the weaknesses of the opponent, the opponent might not be weak that very time,” the assistant coach said.

Cameroon will face Canada, New Zealand and the Netherlands in the group stage of the World competition.  France is the host of the tournament which rumbles off June 7.
