Bamenda (National Times)-At least one person has been shot dead in Bamenda, capital city of Cameroon’s restive North West Region following renewed gun battles between security forces and suspected separatists’ footmen in the afternoon hours of Sunday April 28.
Inhabitants told The Nation National Times that, the crossfire has been intense around the New Church Azire vicinity. The same atmosphere reigns around the Travelers neighbourhood within the same city noted for recurrent battles between security forces and unknown gunmen presumed to be separatists’ footmen.
The National Times could not authenticate allegations that, the corpse of a young man riddled with bullet wounds is the outcome of military fury. Uncoordinated narratives hold that, the youngster was spotted in a military van before being spotted lifeless.
Details about the deceased youngster whose lifeless body is yet to be identified remain out of public knowledge. This development comes after gunmen surfaced on board the Hospital Roundabout area of the same town and dropped a lifeless human head early last week triggering chaos.
A resident behind the Bamenda Mortuary vicinity told The National Times through a telephone interview that, inhabitants of the affected areas are still indoors as a result of the sustained gunshots
