The Director of the Ngaoundere Regional Hospital, Adamawa Region of Cameroon, Dr Mohamadou Hassimi, says the relatives of deceased Divisional Officer (DO) of Figuil, Alain Prosper Abah Abah, have been transferred to health facilities in Yaounde for urgent medical attention following a Monday, August 20 road crash.
Hasimi said, three of the patients directly related to the DO have been referred to the hospitals in Yaounde, given their critical situation.
1) Bie Abah Isabelle, 14 years old
2) Eyenga Abah Christine, 12 years old
3) Mvie Abah Maxime, 7 years old
The Director said, only one case is left at the Ngaoundere health facility.
Abah Mathieu, 1 year old
The medical dispositions come after emergency surgeries were conducted on the victims, hours after the accident occurred. Except for the driver of the deceased DO, the rest of the occupants of the crashed vehicle are members of the same family.
Abah Abah and family were returning from the funeral of his mother-in-law, when the accident occurred in Meiganga, Adamawa Region. Their car bumped into a truck wrongly stationed on the road.
Few hours after the accident, another road crash occurred on the same stretch involving at least 10 persons. Deaths and severe injuries were recorded in the accident.
Authorities of Cameroon’s Transport Ministry have stated repeatedly that, 70 percent of recurrent road accidents across the country are due to human errors.
