Security, Administrative Casualties Feared In Oku Helicopter Crash

Bamenda (National Times)-At least one senior security official and a local administrator are feared dead following a reported helicopter crash in the locality of Elak-Oku, Bui Division, North West Region of Cameroon early Monday, May 13.

The National Times could not authenticate preliminary information that, the Commissioner for Public Security in  Noni Vuyoff Victor and the Divisional Officer (D O) of Oku are among the casualties.

Other contrary narratives talk of the dead of  an official of the national gendarmemarie. There are further reports of other persons who reportedly sustained injuries following the crash.

It is unclear what caused the helicopter accident at the moment. Separatists propaganda agents are already claiming responsibility for the incident. Yet sources averred that, the incident may be the outcome of a technical fault.

Reports hold that, the military helicopter was airlifting local administrators from the Regional capital of Bamenda back to their base. The administrators had grouped in Bamenda to receive the Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on a peace mission to arrest the Anglophone crisis over the weekend.

There has been no official statement  from the government  to clarify public opinion on today’s development. We are monitoring the situation..
